Adam Gafsen has an innovative and unique playing style. He uses the acoustic guitar in a melodic, sometimes percussive, often dramatic, at times humorous, yet always compelling way. Extensively playing live on the London and South East music scene, Adam has been quietly developing his own style and sound. Paying his dues the old fashioned way as a solo performer.
Inspired by the late great Isaac Guillory; not only in terms of technique and taste, Adam's live sets more often than not include excerpts from Guillory's repertoire. Always played sincerely and embracing a due respect of the oral/aural tradition. With an interesting use of harmonics, a contemporary spin on the vintage Echoplex sound, there are also definite John Martyn influences. His vocal style is understated, refreshingly honest.
Adam's original compositions are adeptly crafted and articulate. His approach to arranging songs is really quite original to boot. On top of that, bringing to the mix a singular twist to tunes you know so well and indeed more obscure numbers you may not be familiar with. An accomplished journeyed musician, Adam moves adroitly from the blues, rock, ambient fingerstyle, right the way through to and encompassing jazz, country, and alt-folk.
Check him out, seriously……..
