BabaJack
Biography:
BABAJACK is an established acoustic blues/ folk band, - original, contemporary and big energy:
'BabaJack is an outstanding blues, folk [and more] fusion band [...] When they are on stage, everyone sits up and takes notice, they have great presence and energy and it is hard to contain the fire and passion emanating from them' BluesMatters! Magazine Sept 2010
'There are certain bands you want to claim the credit for discovering, this is one
of them [...] Go out there, give this a listen, pass the news onto your friends, heck even take a discovery credit, but do it...'' Fatea Magazine
Their latest album - Exercising Demons - is in BluesMatters top ten albums at the moment and they got a 'Perfect 10' from Blues in Britain and some great reviews from Maverick, FATEA and Folkwords and other folk/ acoustic magazines...
Live, they play all original material (or very nearly! They chuck in the odd cover - usually Leadbelly!). The their sound includes blues slide, acoustic and winebox guitars, harmonica, African drum, percussion and stomp, vocals, bass and fiddle... and they are incorporating cello into the sound.
They've played a number of festivals over the last couple of years in the UK and in Europe and have always had great reception. They played the main stage at Warwick Folk this year and are already booked for Upton Blues main stage and Skegness Rock and Blues Bluesmatters stage in 2011.
Babajack's sound is very contemporary - powerful and rhythmic and seems to appeal to real cross section. They are getting more and more work, as the Blues/ Acoustic Folk revival generally seems to be attracting bigger and wider audiences.
They play as a duo/ trio but expand up to a 6 piece band depending on the event.
