Biography:

Raised in a small fishing community on the east coast of Newfoundland, Canada, Ashley Fayth grew up listening mostly to traditional folk music, her parents’ collection of new country chart toppers, and not much else. While still in high school, she wrote and recorded her self-titled debut album which immediately attracted the attention of media outlets and industry professionals across the country. Following the release of her album, Ashley co-wrote and performed the track “Do it Right” which was featured on the popular X-Box video game Dance Dance Revolution 2, selling more than 580,000 copies worldwide and topping charts across Europe, Canada, and America. With her discovery of musicians like Laura Marling, Missy Higgins, and Lisa Hannigan (and of course, Joni), she fell in love with contemporary pop-folk and found new direction in her role as a singer/songwriter. Her songs are warm, honest, and influenced by contemporary alternative sounds and the traditional music of the Newfoundland outports where she grew up. Her characteristically emotive vocals showcase newly refined pop-folk sensibilities and a poetic yet quirky lyrical style. A veteran of intimate lounge and pub gigs, Ashley has also headlined auditorium shows and festivals, and has performed live on radio and television. The 23 year-old currently divides her time between London, England, and Newfoundland. Her forthcoming album, Wonder Wonder, is due to be released later this year, and the record’s first single, “Peanut Butter” is now available to download on ITunes.
