paddy goes to holyhead
Biography:
Paddy Goes To Holyhead, a five piece London based Anglo/Irish band, have been doing the rounds of the more notable rock venues for many years. Founded and fronted by Dubliner Danny Hynes (Weapon) their brand of Shamrock’n’roll has gained them a loyal following in the U.K. and overseas.
By dispensing with the pseudo-posturing and affections found in other (equally) glamorous bands, Paddy Goes To Holyhead concentrates solely on entertaining their public and have remained one of the most popular bands on the rock circuit. For a great night of Shamrock’n’roll Paddy Goes To Holyhead provide maximum entertainment
The band released a 12 track CD, called “Greatest Hits (And other fairytales) in 1997, with rocking versions of These Boots Are Made for Walking, Ruby-Don’t Take Your Love To Town, and Dirt Old Town. Also available is the 1986 released 3 track CD produced by, and featuring, Andy Scott from 70’s Glam rockers SWEET, Bruce Bisland on Drums SWEET, Mal McNulty on Guitar/vocals SLADE, Jeff Brown Bass/vocals THE TREMLOES and Phil Lanzon Keyboards URIAH HEEP, with classic versions of Delilah and The Green Green Grass Of Home, both available on their own “Jackeen Records” label.
Along with long-term member, Andy Burgess (guitar/vocals), newest members Chris Troy (bass/vocals) & Tino Troy (guitar/vocals) (2000) and American drummer, Benji Reid (2006) have added a new dimension of sound and influence creating the most exciting Paddy line-up ever!
On St Patrick’s Day, Wednesday the 17th March 2010, the band’s 25th anniversary, their latest album, Shamrocked, was released. The album is a collection of original & traditional Irish songs with a Celtic rock feel, think Thin Lizzy meets The Pouges!
